A lot of the fiber arts I enjoy are things like tatting, netmaking, chair caning, and even weaving, where people will come up to me when I demonstrate and solemnly tell me, "That's a lost art."

Latvian Mittens at the Riga NATO Summit

Habetrot's blog, where I heard about it.

4500 pairs (that's 9000 mittens) were knitted to be given to "NATO Summit delegations and media representatives," according to one of the pages at the NATO Summit 2006 website.
