Lost Arts studio

A lot of the fiber arts I enjoy are things like tatting, netmaking, chair caning, and even weaving, where people will come up to me when I demonstrate and solemnly tell me, "That's a lost art."

Easy Baking-Cocoa Brownies

Easy Baking-Cocoa Brownies

6 Tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
3/4 cup flour
optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or old-fashioned rolled oatmeal

Melt margarine in large saucepan, about 2 quart size, as all ingredients will be mixed in this pan. Remove from heat and mix in baking cocoa, sugar, baking powder, and salt. When thoroughly mixed, and slightly cooled, mix in eggs. Last, mix in the flour, and nuts or oatmeal, if desired.

Spread the batter in a greased 8 or 9" square pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 25 to 30 minutes. Test in the center for doneness (shiny knife comes out clean). Cut in 12 to 16 squares. These are "fudgy" brownies, as compared to "cake-y" brownies. For fancy brownies, lay a paper doily on top and sprinkle powdered sugar through a strainer onto the doily, then remove the doily.

Got very hungry now! Brownies come to me. Have read parts of your blog. Very interesting. I am also very interested in textiles and soon forgotten(?) art and craft. I'll ceep in touch.
